IIT Kanpur launches ASEAN-India Start-up Festival 2024 to set the stage for collaborations and innovation

The ASEAN-India Start-up Festival 2024 started on November 28, 2024. Its goal is to highlight the startup scenes in India and ASEAN countries.

This three-day festival features 100 startups, industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators. It is hosted by the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) at IIT Kanpur, along with the Department of Science & Technology (DST) and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, expressed pride in hosting this event. He emphasized how it brings together creative minds from different regions to promote growth and innovation. The festival shows how collaboration can create a better and more inclusive future.

On the first day, there were discussions on topics like cultural intelligence in market expansion and new trends in cybersecurity. These discussions aim to share knowledge and insights among participants.

His Excellency Satvinder Singh, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, mentioned that this festival reflects the shared goals of ASEAN and India. He noted the importance of addressing regional issues through innovation and collaboration, rather than relying on Western solutions.

Prof. Deepu Philip, Professor-in-Charge of SIIC, IIT Kanpur, highlighted that the festival is more than just an event. It is a gathering of bright minds and innovative ideas, aiming for sustainable growth.

As the festival continues, it is expected to create new opportunities, inspire entrepreneurs, and promote technological progress. This event is a significant step toward shared growth and innovation in the region.
